✨ Small Steps – Start Now

(Things you can do this week or month)

Dreams grow when you take action - one step at a time.

You don’t need to do everything at once. Start small, learn as you go, and keep moving forward.

Every action - even a tiny one - helps you build confidence, learn new things, and move closer to the future you imagine.

Choose a few steps that feel right for you - and begin today.

These steps are quick and simple - but powerful. Choose one or two to try this week.

  • Talk to a teacher, coach, or friend about your dream - show them your Dream Map or Journey.

  • Watch a video or read an article about someone doing your dream job. Try searching YouTube for “day in the life of a…”.

  • Sign-up to the free SA Youth online platform for local youth opportunities.

  • Ask someone if you can help or shadow them at work for a day.

  • Do one free online course to grow your skills:

  • Start an Ideas Bank - a notebook or phone album for ideas, people to ask, or things to try.

  • Ask 3 people:

    • “What do you think is my top strength?”

  • Ask 2-3 trusted people:

    • “What is one way you think I could make a positive difference?”

  • Join a school club, youth group, or volunteer for a project.

  • Add new notes, drawings, or goals to your Dream Map or Journey.

🌟 Big Steps – Looking Ahead

(Goals for the next 6-12 months or longer)

Big steps take time and planning - but each one brings your dream much closer.

  • Find out about colleges, courses, or training opportunities - talk to current or former students for advice.

  • Apply for a bursary, internship, or mentorship programme.

  • Join or start a project, small business, or youth initiative.

  • Take the lead on something at your school or in your community.

  • Enter a competition that connects to your interests or talents.

  • Share your skills - plan an event, run a mini workshop for younger learners, or start a blog.

  • Start a club or campaign, or organise a community event or awareness day.

  • Set up monthly check-ins with a teacher, coach, or older peer to track your progress and celebrate wins.
